Cameron Demijah Little, Corey Lavel Tremble Obituary, Death – Authorities have revealed the identities of two men who were fatally shot in separate incidents that took place within hours of each other in Birmingham. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victims were 23-year-old Cameron Demijah Little and 38-year-old Corey Lavel Tremble, both residents of Birmingham.
The first shooting happened late Wednesday night at East Lake Park. According to police, Little was one of two people shot at the park. The second individual survived the incident. Officers from the East Precinct responded to a call just after 11:30 p.m. in the 100 block of 84th Street North. The city’s Shot Spotter system—a gunfire detection tool—alerted authorities to approximately 10 gunshots in the area. When officers arrived, they found Little lying unresponsive within the park grounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel responded and officially declared him dead at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday.
Initial investigations revealed that a group of men and women had gathered at the park, though what led to the gunfire remains unclear. Officer De’Rell Freeman stated that the circumstances surrounding the meeting and the motive for the shooting are still under investigation.
Just a few hours later, another fatal shooting occurred in a different part of the city. At about 3 a.m. Thursday, officers from the West Precinct were called to investigate a report of a person found unresponsive in the 700 block of 17th Street Ensley. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered Tremble suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at 3:37 a.m.
Details about the second shooting remain limited. According to Officer Freeman, a passerby discovered Tremble and called 911. Authorities have not provided information about suspects or potential motives in either case.
Both shootings contribute to a rising count of violent deaths in the city this year. So far, 42 people have been killed in Birmingham. When counting all homicides in Jefferson County, including those outside city limits, the number climbs to 66.
