Brian Pine Obituary, Death – A suspect fatally shot during a confrontation with deputies in El Paso County on Friday night has been identified by the coroner’s office as 59-year-old Brian Pine. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the situation began just after 11:30 p.m. when El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a disturbance in the Security-Widefield area. A neighbor had contacted authorities to report a possible altercation involving a firearm at a home on Tranters Creek Way.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered a firearm lying in the driveway. Inside the residence, deputies made contact with a man and a woman. While officers attempted to detain Pine, he reportedly became confrontational.
Police say Pine grabbed a deputy’s Taser and managed to deploy it. In response to the escalation, two deputies fired their service weapons, striking Pine.
Emergency personnel from the Security Fire Department and deputies on the scene immediately began administering medical assistance. However, despite their efforts, Pine was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two deputies involved in the incident sustained injuries during the confrontation and were transported to a hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.
The Colorado Springs Police Department has taken over the investigation, which is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings in the area to ensure impartiality. Authorities are continuing to gather details to determine the exact sequence of events and whether further actions or charges are necessary.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office officially confirmed Pine’s identity on Monday.
Investigators have not yet disclosed any additional information about the circumstances that led to the initial disturbance or what may have sparked the confrontation. The role of the woman at the scene also remains unclear, and no charges have been reported in connection with her.
