At approximately 12:32 p.m., authorities were alerted to a significant accident in the 1800 block of North FM 116 involving a motorcycle and an SUV. During the investigation, the road was closed for several hours, and traffic was redirected to alternate routes, but it has since been reopened. Preliminary findings from the CCPD indicate that the SUV, traveling north, attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot without yielding the right of way to the motorcyclist, who was approaching from the opposite direction, leading to the crash. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the collision and impacted the passenger side of the SUV. Bystanders promptly initiated life-saving measures and performed CPR on the motorcyclist until emergency responders arrived to provide additional aid. He was subsequently transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The police have informed the next of kin, identifying the motorcyclist as Brett Dudley Harden Jr., 38, from Copperas Cove.
