Betty C. Benefield Death News: Cullman County woman killed in multi-vehicle crash.

Betty C. Benefield Death News – An 88-year-old Cullman County woman lost her life in a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported that the accident took place around 3:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 278. A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling on the highway when it collided head-on with a Mack truck. Following the initial impact, the Chevrolet was struck again by a 2021 Ram 1500.

Authorities identified the passenger in the Chevrolet as Betty C. Benefield of Holly Pond. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 88-year-old Charles E. Benefield, also of Holly Pond, sustained injuries in the crash. Emergency responders transported him to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment.

Officials have not yet released details on the cause of the accident, and an investigation remains ongoing. The ALEA continues to review the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine what factors may have contributed to the collision.
