Benjamin Olson Obituary, Death: Coroner identifies 44-year-old Crystal Lake motorcyclist killed in head-on crash.

Benjamin Olson Obituary, Death – A 44-year-old man from Crystal Lake has been identified as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that took place last week in Hebron, Illinois. The McHenry County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased as Benjamin Olson.

The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Route 47 and Thayer Road. According to law enforcement, Olson was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Route 47 when the incident occurred.

Investigators say that Olson’s motorcycle crossed the centerline of the roadway and collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Ford Explorer. After striking the SUV, the motorcycle continued and also hit a trailer being towed by a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, but Olson was pronounced dead on-site. An autopsy conducted by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office revealed that Olson died from blunt force injuries sustained during the collision.

Authorities indicated that alcohol is believed to have played a role in the accident. Additionally, Olson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, a factor that may have contributed to the severity of his injuries.

Toxicology testing is currently underway, and the coroner’s office is waiting on those results to determine whether alcohol or other substances were present in Olson’s system at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation by local authorities as they work to piece together all the factors that led to the fatal incident. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and accident reconstruction specialists are assisting in the effort.

Officials have not reported any injuries to the occupants of the Ford Explorer or the Chevrolet pickup truck. No charges have been filed in connection with the crash as of now.

This tragedy has raised concerns once again about the risks associated with motorcycle riding, particularly the dangers of riding without a helmet and the influence of alcohol. Local safety advocates continue to urge motorcyclists to wear proper protective gear and avoid riding under the influence to reduce the risk of fatal crashes.

As the investigation progresses and toxicology results become available, authorities hope to provide a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the collision. Meanwhile, the family and community of Benjamin Olson are mourning the sudden loss of a loved one.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office and local law enforcement have asked that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information relevant to the case contact authorities as they continue their investigation.
