Witnesses and police reports state that an unidentified individual got out of the vehicle and opened fire on Zuniga-Garcia from a distance. After shooting, the suspect quickly returned to the SUV, which sped away from the scene before officers arrived.
Authorities added that Zuniga-Garcia’s girlfriend rushed back to him as soon as she realized what happened. She reportedly tried to help him after the shots were fired, but her efforts were unsuccessful. Police confirmed he died where he was found.
