Ann Seidl Obituary, Death: Runner killed in Dunn County hit-and-run identified.

Ann Seidl Obituary, Death – A 17-year-old girl from Wisconsin is facing serious charges after allegedly causing a fatal hit-and-run on Saturday morning, in which a 54-year-old runner was killed. The incident occurred in Dunn County, and the accused is expected to appear in court for a bond hearing Monday afternoon.
The victim of the fatal accident has been identified as Ann M. Seidl, a 54-year-old woman from Eau Claire. According to Dunn County Sheriff Kevin Bygd, authorities received a call around 7:15 a.m. reporting a body found in a ditch along Dunn County Highway Y, between 330th and 370th Avenue. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered Seidl lying off the highway, having sustained severe injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
After investigating the area and receiving information regarding the potential whereabouts of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, law enforcement quickly made an arrest. The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, hit-and-run resulting in death, and homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
Court records reveal that the teen had been cited for underage drinking just a few weeks prior, on March 14, which raises concerns regarding her driving behavior at the time of the accident. The teen is scheduled for a bond hearing in a Dunn County courtroom at 1:15 p.m. on Monday.
Sheriff Bygd mentioned that Seidl had been wearing bright clothing and a reflective vest while running, which would have made her more visible to drivers. She was reportedly running on the correct side of the highway, following proper safety protocols for maximum visibility when she was struck by the vehicle.
This tragic incident has raised concerns about the dangers of impaired driving, especially among young drivers. The investigation continues, as authorities piece together the events leading to the fatal collision.
