According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 5 a.m. The driver, later identified by the coroner as 18-year-old Aidden Lambeth of Carthage, was traveling southbound in a Ford F-150 pickup truck when the crash occurred.

Authorities say Lambeth failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection. As a result, the truck veered off the right side of the road. In an attempt to regain control of the vehicle, he overcorrected, causing the truck to then leave the roadway on the left side. The vehicle overturned and crashed into a tree.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Lambeth was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Jasper County Coroner James Harrison at 5:32 a.m.

Although the Highway Patrol initially did not release the driver’s name in their official report, Coroner Harrison later identified the victim as Aidden Lambeth. No passengers were reported to be in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported. The wreckage from the overturned vehicle and the tree impact indicated the force of the crash was significant. Investigators are continuing to examine the details to determine all contributing factors, including whether speed, visibility, or other road conditions played a role.

The crash has shaken the small community and the town of Carthage, where Lambeth was from. At just 18 years old, his life ended suddenly in a tragic single-vehicle accident that serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and seat belt use.
