Ahsun Madison Obituary, Death: The Austin Police Department has identified 16-year-old Ahsun Madison as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night in north Austin. Another 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the homicide, according to police.

The incident took place around 8:20 p.m. in the 9100 block of Northgate Boulevard. Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area, with some callers stating that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered Madison at an apartment complex with clear signs of trauma. Despite efforts by police, EMS, and the Austin Fire Department to save his life, Madison was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:01 p.m.

Police stated that the suspect, identified as a Hispanic male, fled the scene following the shooting but was later located and arrested by Austin Police Gang Detectives. He was charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Gardner Betts Juvenile Center. Due to his age, the suspect’s name has not been released.

The suspect has a history of involvement in violent incidents in the area. Police revealed he had previously been arrested for multiple shootings earlier in the year, including the fourth homicide of 2024, which occurred on January 8 in the 9300 block of Northgate Boulevard. Although the suspect was present during that earlier homicide, he was not identified as the shooter. He had been out on bond at the time of Madison’s killing.

The homicide marks Austin’s 48th of 2024, according to APD. Authorities are continuing their investigation and urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
