Ah Mee Kun Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the individual shot and killed Sunday night by a Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) officer. The victim, identified as 16-year-old Ah Mee Kun, died from multiple gunshot wounds. The coroner ruled the death a homicide resulting from a police action shooting.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Sunday, when officers responded to reports of individuals walking along Avondale Drive, near Lafayette Street, carrying firearms and threatening to shoot. Upon arriving at the scene, police found several individuals in the area, and Kun was reportedly holding a firearm.

The situation escalated when Kun allegedly refused to comply with verbal commands from the officers. According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, the officers then shot Kun, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to Kun’s death, one officer sustained injuries during the confrontation. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, though the exact circumstances surrounding the injury remain unclear.

As per standard procedure for officer-involved shootings, the incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. Additionally, the Indiana State Police are conducting an independent investigation into the events surrounding the shooting.
