Gerone L. Evans Obituary, Death – A fatal car crash occurred in Cherokee County on Wednesday, November 27, leaving one person dead and several others injured. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash took place at 5:22 p.m. on Alabama State Route 35 near mile marker 7. The victim, 58-year-old Gerone L. Evans from Summerville, Georgia, was critically injured after his vehicle was struck by another car. The force of the impact caused Evans’ vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn.
Evans was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and he was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency responders rushed him to Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia, but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The other vehicle involved in the crash was driven by 55-year-old Debra J. Mitchell, a Tennessee resident, who was accompanied by passengers 19-year-old Aniayah J. Bembry and 33-year-old Breanna J. Randolph. These three individuals, also from Tennessee, suffered injuries in the crash and were transported to Floyd Medical Center for medical treatment. Additionally, two young children, a 1-year-old and a 3-month-old, were in the vehicle with Mitchell, Bembry, and Randolph. The children were also injured and received treatment at a local hospital.
The crash is currently under investigation by ALEA, and authorities are working to determine the full details of the incident. At this time, there is no additional information regarding the cause of the crash.
