Robin Brown Obituary, Death -7-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing South Florida Avenue in Lakeland, and police are actively searching for the driver responsible.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning near the 700 block of South Florida Avenue. Lakeland police responded to the hit-and-run report at 12:02 a.m. The victim, Robin Brown, was attempting to cross the road near Palmetto Street when she was hit by a southbound vehicle.
Emergency responders from Polk County Fire Rescue, as well as Lakeland police and fire departments, rushed to the scene. Brown was transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities believe the vehicle involved was a 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport, possibly gray or silver. After the collision, the driver did not stop and continued heading south on South Florida Avenue.
Lakeland Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit initiated an investigation at the crash site. The road was closed for about four and a half hours as officers gathered evidence.
