James Hines Obituary, Death – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have provided additional details about a tragic crash in south Charlotte that resulted in the death of one individual. The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on November 20, on Old Pineville Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a white Lexus with significant damage and a pedestrian lying in the roadway. The pedestrian was later identified as 39-year-old James Hines.

Emergency medical responders from Medic confirmed that Hines died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. Investigators determined that the car, driven by 45-year-old Tamika Smyre, was traveling north on Old Pineville Road when it struck Hines. Authorities noted that Hines was wearing dark clothing and was located in the travel lanes at the time of the incident.

Further investigation revealed that Smyre was impaired at the time of the crash. Police conducted a screening, and Smyre was found to be under the influence. As a result, she was charged with several offenses, including driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, and possession of marijuana. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
