Daniella Sarmiento, Chris Salazar Obituary, Death – Two residents of Big Spring died early Thursday morning after a fire broke out in their home. The fire occurred in a one-story residence, and the victims, identified as 41-year-old Daniella Sarmiento and 37-year-old Chris Salazar, were taken to the Scenic Mountain Medical Center, where they later passed away from their injuries.
Big Spring Fire Marshal Hendrickson stated that at approximately 2:34 a.m. on November 21, fire crews from the Big Spring Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 1400 block of Park Street. Upon arrival, the fire was observed coming from the back of the single-story home.
The Big Spring Fire Department dispatched three fire trucks, along with the Battalion Chief and Fire Marshal, to the scene. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, and all units had cleared the area by 8:00 a.m. The fire was determined to have been caused by an accident involving an electrical heating device. Additionally, it was noted that there were no working smoke detectors in the house at the time of the fire.
The tragic incident has left the community in mourning, with authorities continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
