Nicholas Oleski, Justine A. Hitchcock Obituary, Death – Two people lost their lives in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 in Carroll County early on November 19, according to the Virginia State Police (VSP). The incident unfolded just before 3 a.m. when a northbound Mercedes sedan veered off the left side of the highway, initiating a series of collisions.
The Mercedes struck the end of a guardrail before spinning back onto the interstate, where it collided with a 2019 Ford F450 truck. The impact caused the Mercedes to spin again, hitting the side of a 2023 Volvo VNR tractor-trailer, which subsequently went off the road. The Mercedes continued spinning, colliding with a 2025 Peterbilt tractor-trailer before coming to rest off the highway.
VSP identified the driver of the Mercedes as 34-year-old Nicholas Oleski of Cleveland, Ohio. Oleski sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A passenger in the Mercedes, 34-year-old Justine A. Hitchcock, also from Cleveland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Fortunately, none of the drivers or passengers in the other vehicles involved suffered injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
