Zion Powers Obituary, Death – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 195 in Washington State on Saturday, November 16, resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy and left his father injured. The victim was identified as Zion Powers, and his father, Stephen Powers, suffered injuries but survived the incident.

The crash occurred about three miles north of Rosalia, Washington. According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), Stephen Powers was driving a semi-truck and trailer southbound on the highway when he lost control of his vehicle due to icy road conditions. As a result, his truck jackknifed across the northbound lanes. Zion’s father, Stephen Bischoff, who was driving a Mazda CX-50 with his son Zion as a passenger, collided with the semi before being forced into another lane, where he struck two additional vehicles. The semi-truck also collided with a second truck that was parked along the shoulder.

Zion, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was critically injured and transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Stephen, who had his seatbelt on, was also taken to the hospital but was released after receiving treatment for his injuries.

The incident, which involved five vehicles in total, remains under investigation by the Washington State Patrol. Authorities have not yet provided further details regarding the exact circumstances or the other drivers involved in the crash.

The news of Zion’s death has deeply affected his community. A GoFundMe page has been established for the Bischoff family, with funds raised to support them during this difficult time. The fundraiser organizer, Paige Wieser, described Zion as someone who “easily made everyone feel like his best friend—no matter their age.” As of Wednesday, November 20, the campaign had raised more than $116,000.

In a heartfelt tribute to Zion, the Washington State University football team honored him by wearing “ZB” decals on their helmets. Head coach Jake Dickert, whose daughter was friends with Zion, expressed his condolences at a press conference, stating, “From our football program to the Bischoff family, we just really offer our condolences, prayers and thoughts, and everyone with our community, we’re with you.”

The crash serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers posed by icy roads and the importance of road safety, especially during the colder months. The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the crash and has not yet released further details about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
