Hailee Vlach Obituary, Death – A tragic rollover crash in rural Merrick County claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman early Tuesday morning. Deputies responded to the single-vehicle accident around 6 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and Ormsby roads, located a few miles east of Worms, Nebraska.
Authorities found a 1998 Chevrolet pickup that had veered off course, crossed the center lane, and plunged into a southern ditch. The vehicle struck an embankment before rolling over, according to Sheriff John Westman.
The crash left the passenger, identified as Hailee Vlach of Palmer, dead at the scene. The 32-year-old male driver, also from Palmer, sustained minor injuries. Investigators noted that neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt, and the vehicle’s airbags failed to deploy during the accident.
While it remains uncertain if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, the investigation is ongoing. Merrick County deputies received assistance at the scene from the Nebraska State Patrol, Chapman Fire and Rescue, and Grand Island Fire departments.
