The shooting was reported just before 1 p.m. in the 300 block of East Linwood Boulevard. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were directed by witnesses to a nearby business parking lot, where they found Shaban unresponsive. He was suffering from gunshot wounds and was declared dead by emergency medical services at the scene.
Police took a person of interest into custody shortly after the incident for questioning. Early investigations suggest that the shooting stemmed from an argument between two individuals, which escalated into gunfire. Authorities are working to determine the exact nature of the relationship between Shaban and the suspect, as well as any potential connection to the business where the shooting took place.
