Eytan M. Genoune Obituary, Death – A 21-year-old man from Boynton Beach tragically lost his life in a boating incident on Saturday morning in the Florida Keys, as confirmed by state officials. The victim has been identified as Eytan M. Genoune.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Genoune was one of two passengers on a 34-foot Nor-Tech boat traveling near northern Key Largo. At around 10:30 a.m., the boat was heading south near the Card Sound Bridge, which connects the Florida Keys to the mainland, when the operator made a sudden turn. This abrupt maneuver caused both the boat’s operator and the two passengers to be thrown into the water.
Good Samaritans nearby quickly came to the aid of the boat’s operator and one of the passengers, rescuing them from the water. Both were then transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, Genoune was found unresponsive when he was pulled from the water and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The FWC has stated that the incident is still under investigation, and a full report will be released once the investigation is complete. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the cause of the incident.
Since Genoune’s death, numerous tributes have been shared online, including one from Fish Bluewater, a competitive fishing website. The organization praised Genoune for being a well-respected tournament angler, describing him as a decorated and passionate individual who loved the water. On its Facebook page, Fish Bluewater wrote, “In honor of a young man whose spirit was as boundless as the ocean he loved, we saw him shine bright through his passion for the water.”
As the investigation continues, Genoune’s tragic death has left a mark on the local fishing community and beyond, as friends, family, and fellow anglers remember his legacy.
