Matthew Escalante Obituary, Death – The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating a homicide that occurred last week in east Austin. Officers responded to a report of a shooting and found 20-year-old Matthew Escalante with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries on November 8, according to authorities.
Investigations revealed that Escalante had arrived in the area to meet someone when he was shot by an individual who quickly fled the scene, accompanied by other suspects. The shooting took place around 4:30 p.m. on November 7 in the 2600 block of Rosewood Avenue. This marks Austin’s 58th homicide case of 2024.
APD has asked the public for any information regarding the suspects. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact APD at 512-974-TIPS.
