Adam Sartin Obituary, Death: Man dies after his pickup truck crashes into the back of a stopped semi, says OSHP.
Adam Sartin Obituary, Death – A fatal accident in Sugarcreek Township on Tuesday afternoon led to the death of a passenger and serious injuries for the driver of a pickup truck. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) reported that the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 30 at the intersection with Kohler Road. Both vehicles involved in the crash, a pickup truck and a semi-truck, were traveling eastbound.
According to officials, the semi-truck had come to a stop in preparation for a left turn onto Kohler Road when the pickup truck, unable to stop in time, struck the rear of the semi. The impact resulted in the death of Adam Sartin, a 41-year-old passenger from Orrville, who was inside the pickup truck at the time. The pickup’s driver, 45-year-old Robert Burr from Massillon, suffered serious injuries classified as “incapacitating” by responders. He was subsequently flown to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Emergency responders closed the intersection for about two hours, allowing authorities to conduct an initial investigation and clear the scene. Troopers emphasized that neither Sartin nor Burr had been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, a factor that may have contributed to the severity of their injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed in the incident.
The OSHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to gain further insights into what led to the accident.
