Venkateshwara Edara Obituary, Death – A fatal crash on Atlantic Avenue over the weekend claimed the life of Venkateshwara Edara, a 37-year-old resident of Penfield, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The accident happened around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday as Edara was driving east on Atlantic Avenue. Deputy Brendan Hurley reported that Edara failed to make a turn, causing his vehicle to veer off the road. The car hit a utility pole before crashing into the front porch of a nearby house close to Five Mile Line Road, resulting in structural damage to the home.

Edara did not survive the crash. According to his obituary, he leaves behind his wife, Sai, and two daughters, an 8-year-old and an 11-month-old, along with extended family members. The obituary described Edara as a “dedicated family man” with a vibrant personality, who was well-loved for his friendly nature and willingness to help others. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was a movie enthusiast, and had a passion for travel and exploring new places.

Professionally, Edara worked as a cybersecurity engineer for Excellus. In light of his sudden passing, his family created an online fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses and other needs. By Tuesday morning, the fundraiser had raised over $56,000.

A visitation service for Edara is set to be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at James R. Gray Funeral Home on Buffalo Road in Gates.
