Timothy Ward Obituary, Death – Richmond Police have identified 34-year-old Timothy Ward, a resident of Henrico County, as the man fatally shot Monday afternoon outside the Richmond Justice Center on Fairfield Way. Ward was killed in the parking lot of the jail complex, according to authorities.

Naim Crews Jr., 28, of Richmond, has been named a person of interest in connection with Ward’s death. Crews was apprehended by police on Monday afternoon after investigators linked him to a separate shooting that occurred the day before Ward’s death.

The earlier incident took place on Sunday morning, around 11:38 a.m., at a convenience store located in the 1400 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike. Police said an adult male, later identified as Crews, entered the store, demanded money, and opened fire. The store employee, a male, returned fire, striking Crews. However, Crews was not injured in the exchange and fled the scene. The employee sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Crews has been charged with attempted murder and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony for his role in the shooting at the convenience store. These charges are related to the Mechanicsville Turnpike incident. Authorities have yet to announce charges related to Ward’s death, as the investigation continues.

At this time, police have not provided further details on the relationship, if any, between Crews and Ward or a motive for the shooting at the Richmond Justice Center. The investigation into Ward’s homicide is ongoing.
