Lavaughn Polk Obituary, Death – The Syracuse Police Department has released the identity of the pedestrian who died in a crash that occurred on Monday morning. Authorities confirmed that the victim was 38-year-old Lavaughn Polk, a resident of Syracuse.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the area of East Adams Street and South Townsend Street around 7 a.m. on July 31. They had received a call about a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived at the scene, they located Polk lying on the road, just north of the intersection.
Emergency responders found Polk suffering from severe and traumatic injuries. He was quickly transported to Upstate University Hospital for medical treatment. Despite the efforts to save him, Polk was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said the driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and has been fully cooperating with investigators. As of now, there is no indication that the driver fled or attempted to avoid responsibility. Authorities have not released any details regarding possible charges or whether speed, distraction, or impairment were factors in the crash.
