Logan Sauer Obituary, Death – Six people lost their lives and one person was injured in a devastating crash Saturday morning in west Charlotte. Authorities have now provided further details about the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. on the outer loop of Interstate 485, between Wilkinson Boulevard and West Boulevard.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash involved three vehicles: a Honda CRV, a Chrysler van, and a parked tractor-trailer. The Honda CRV was traveling in the middle lane, while the Chrysler van was in the right lane. At some point, the CRV veered into the right lane and collided with the van. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to leave the road and crash into a stationary tractor-trailer that was parked along the shoulder.
The driver of the Honda CRV was identified as 16-year-old Logan Sauer of Mooresville. He was the only occupant in his vehicle and tragically died at the scene.
Inside the Chrysler van were six occupants, five of whom died as a result of the crash. The victims were identified as 27-year-old Samuel Holmes, who was driving the van; 23-year-old Taylor Willis; 1-year-old Brynlon Holmes; 3-year-old Addyson Holmes; and 8-year-old Kamron Wood. The lone survivor in the van was a 16-year-old girl, who was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Her condition has not been disclosed, but she is expected to recover.
The driver of the parked tractor-trailer was not injured in the incident, officials said.
Troopers stated that no charges are expected to be filed in connection with the crash, and the investigation is still ongoing to determine the precise sequence of events and contributing factors.
