Jonathan Ollry Obituary, Death: Police ID Man Who Died by Suicide After Hickory Hills Shootout, Armed Robbery

Jonathan Ollry Obituary, Death – The police in Hickory Hills have identified the individual who allegedly took his own life following an exchange of gunfire with officers last week. Jonathan Ollry, aged 42, a former resident of Hickory Hills, reportedly turned the gun on himself last Thursday after engaging in a shootout with law enforcement, according to police reports. The incident commenced around 8:45 p.m., as an 18-year-old man and a child were exiting their vehicle in the parking lot of the Hickory Palos Square Shopping Center, as stated by the police.

Ollry, who was armed, approached the pair and demanded their possessions, according to police accounts. The man handed over his key fob and subsequently contacted the police. Ollry was unable to start the vehicle and fled the scene as law enforcement arrived.

Officers attempted to apprehend Ollry, who dashed across 95th Street into a Speedway parking lot near Roberts Road, as reported by the police.

Ollry discharged several rounds at another officer who was attempting to detain him, according to police statements.

During the incident, the area was crowded with individuals in the gas station parking lot and on adjacent roads. One driver experienced a bullet passing directly through the windshield, yet fortunately, no occupants of that vehicle were injured.

An officer returned fire; however, Ollry fled north into an alley.

Another officer confronted him, at which point Ollry shot himself, according to police reports.

Ollry was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

One officer received treatment and was released from the hospital for minor injuries.

Ollry’s last known residence was in Chicago, and he was identified as a non-compliant child sex offender, according to police information.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
