According to police, the driver of the van became distracted by a pedestrian who was reportedly crossing the road improperly. The pedestrian’s unexpected presence appeared to draw the driver’s attention away from oncoming traffic, including the northbound motorcycle.

Investigators said that due to this distraction, the driver of the van failed to notice Parrish’s motorcycle approaching. The van turned left directly into the motorcycle’s path, resulting in a violent collision between the two vehicles.

While the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries in the crash, the driver of the Nissan van was not physically harmed. Police have not released the identity of the van driver, but they have confirmed that the individual has been cited for “Failure to Yield to Oncoming Traffic While Making a Lefthand Turn.” This citation reflects the driver’s role in the crash but does not currently carry any criminal charges.
