The incident occurred shortly after noon near the intersection of Waukegan and Everett Roads. Lake Forest police responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a freight train. Upon arrival, officers discovered Morgan had been fatally injured, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident significantly disrupted train services, affecting both the Metra Milwaukee District North Line and the Amtrak Hiawatha Line. Rail service was temporarily halted but later resumed on a single track to minimize delays.
In addition to the train service disruptions, authorities implemented road closures in the vicinity of the crash. Everett Road was shut down between Telegraph and Waukegan, while Conway Road was also closed between the same intersections.
