Rudy Veloz Obituary, Death – A man who was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Orange Cove has been identified as 34-year-old Rudy Veloz, according to authorities.
The shooting took place on Sunday afternoon at the Orchard Village apartments, located near South Avenue and Orange Street. Officers from the Orange Cove Police Department responded to the scene first and discovered Veloz suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders transported Veloz to a hospital in Reedley for treatment, but he did not survive his injuries.
Authorities say a 16-year-old suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting but was later apprehended by Fresno County deputies. The suspect was taken into custody, though officials have not yet disclosed any potential charges.
Investigators confirmed that Veloz and the teenage suspect were acquainted, but they have not yet determined or released a motive for the shooting.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
