City officials confirmed that 30-year-ol Sheppard, a Statesville resident, was killed in the accident.Footage from Iredell Auto Repair, which is near the laundromat, captured the aftermath of the crash. First responders quickly arrived at the scene as dark smoke drifted through the area. Shelton Avenue was closed as emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage and urged people to avoid the area.
City officials expressed their condolences to Sheppard’s family and friends.
