According to Pennsylvania State Police, the incident took place on Molly Pitcher Highway near Pin Oak Court in Greene Township at approximately 1:10 a.m.
Crash Details
Investigators determined that a silver 2016 Volkswagen GTI hatchback was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The wet road conditions further contributed to the accident, causing the car to veer off the highway.
The out-of-control hatchback plowed through a line of bushes, struck an embankment, and became airborne before violently flipping over. The vehicle ultimately landed on its roof in a nearby farm field. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Occupants Thrown from Vehicle
The force of the impact ejected all three individuals inside the vehicle. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the victims to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Cristian Lozada-Garcia, suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The two passengers, a 24-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. Officials have not released their names.
Road Closure and Investigation
Following the crash, authorities shut down Molly Pitcher Highway in both directions for several hours to allow for an investigation and cleanup. The road was reopened to traffic around 3:30 a.m.
