Terra Richmond Obituary, Death: Stillwater woman, 22, dies in Payne County head-on collision, says OHP.
Terra Richmond Obituary, Death – Authorities have confirmed the death of a 22-year-old woman from Stillwater following a tragic crash that occurred Wednesday night on State Highway 33 in Payne County. The collision involved a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Terra Richmond, and a 2011 Ford F-250, which resulted in the young woman’s death at the scene.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on State Highway 33 when the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu attempted to pass four vehicles in a passing zone. Unfortunately, while trying to overtake the cars, Richmond’s vehicle collided head-on with the Ford F-250. The force of the crash left Richmond, who was driving the Malibu, dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford F-250, whose identity was not disclosed, was transported to a Stillwater hospital where they received medical treatment and were later released. Fortunately, the driver of the F-250 did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Troopers from the OHP indicated that the cause of the crash was due to Richmond’s improper attempt to overtake the vehicles without ensuring adequate clearance for the maneuver. Authorities cited this as the primary factor in the head-on collision. This tragic incident adds to a string of deadly crashes on State Highway 33, with previous fatal accidents occurring in the area in recent months. In mid-December, two people were killed in a crash near Perkins, and in January, a 19-year-old man from Norman lost his life in a separate crash near Stillwater.
This incident is under investigation, and local authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
