According to witness accounts provided in the coroner’s release, the incident was triggered by a white SUV that crossed into the southbound lane while attempting to pass a slower vehicle traveling in the northbound lane. This sudden maneuver forced McEvoy, who was driving southbound, to swerve off the road to avoid a head-on collision with the SUV.
Unfortunately, McEvoy’s car veered off the road and crashed into a tree, resulting in significant damage to her vehicle. The impact was severe, and McEvoy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV involved in the incident did not stop, according to witness reports.
