Robert W. Echols Death News – A 53-year-old man from Alton, Robert W. Echols, tragically died after being mauled by a dog inside his home on Friday. According to Madison County Coroner Nicholas P. Novacich, the incident occurred at the residence on Lovejoy Jane, where Echols lived with his brother. The dog reportedly attacked Echols’ brother as he tried to enter the home, prompting the brother to flee the house. He ran to a neighbor’s house, who called 911 around 4:50 p.m.
When emergency responders arrived, Echols was found inside the home and was pronounced dead less than two hours later. Preliminary autopsy results indicated that Echols’ injuries were consistent with dog bites, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after further investigation and toxicology tests. The Alton Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident.
