Alexander Arrojo; 29-year-old killed in I-85 ramp shooting in northeast Charlotte; suspect arrested and charged.

A suspect has been arrested and charged following a fatal shooting on I-85 in northeast Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Marquail Burris, was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived at the scene.

Authorities were called to the southbound ramp at West W.T. Harris Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Thursday, January 9. Upon arrival, officers discovered an individual with a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as 29-year-old Alexander Arrojo, was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Burris was handed over to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and faces several charges, including murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and hit and run. The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
