Roberto Garcia Obituary, Death: Family of Tangipahoa Parish Hunting Accident Victim Urges Adherence to Hunting Regulations
Roberto Garcia Obituary, Death – Two hunters were shot in separate incidents just before the new year, resulting in the death of one, identified as Roberto Garcia. His niece, Yesenia Figueredo, described the emotional turmoil her family is experiencing, swinging between intense laughter and tears as they remember Garcia.
Garcia, a native of Baton Rouge, was fatally shot while hunting in Tangipahoa Parish. His family remembered him as a vibrant person who was the life of the party, a family-oriented man, and a jokester. Figueredo noted that it sometimes feels as if Garcia might walk through the door, playing a prank on them. Known for his exceptional dancing skills, Garcia participated in and won salsa competitions. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for kayaking, fishing, and hunting.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has emphasized the importance of following hunting safety protocols, such as wearing a hunter’s orange hat on private property and both a hat and 400 square inches of orange or blaze pink on public land. They also stressed the need to clearly identify targets before shooting.
Despite Garcia’s adherence to hunting regulations, the family struggles with the anger and frustration over his death. Figueredo urged hunters to know their companions, wear the proper safety colors, and inform someone about their location and attire before heading into the woods.
Garcia’s funeral will be held at Green Oaks Funeral Home on January 11th, from 9-11 a.m., and the family invites everyone to attend. Support for Garcia’s family can also be provided through their GoFundMe campaign.
