New Orleans Woman Identified as Final Victim of Bourbon Street Attack; Brother Still Missing
LaTasha Polk Obituary, Death – LaTasha Polk, a 47-year-old resident of Treme, has been identified as the last known victim of the deadly New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street, New Orleans. Polk, described as a dedicated nurse’s assistant, was among the 14 individuals killed during the incident.
Her identity was confirmed by her brother, Raynell Bates, and her aunt, Kim Polk, during a vigil held in the French Quarter to honor the victims. The vigil, attended by grieving families and community members, paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the early-morning attack.
The attack was carried out by Shamsud-Din Jabbar from Texas, who drove a white Ford F-150 truck with homemade explosives for nearly three blocks, targeting New Year’s Day revelers. Jabbar was shot and killed at the scene following a shootout with police.
LaTasha Polk had been celebrating the New Year with her brother, Printisis Polk, who remains missing. Family members expressed their ongoing concern and hope for his safe return. As of now, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has not yet officially identified LaTasha Polk as the final victim, but her family has acknowledged her tragic death.
The community continues to mourn the loss of Polk and the other victims as the investigation into the horrific attack proceeds.
