Cathy Pendergrass Obituary, Death: Woman succumbs to injuries days after a parking lot accident at Longhorn Steakhouse.

Cathy Pendergrass Obituary, Death – On December 28, a tragic accident in a Tennessee steakhouse parking lot claimed the life of 61-year-old Cathy Pendergrass from Warrenton, Virginia. The Murfreesboro Police Department reported that Pendergrass succumbed to her injuries five days after the incident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The accident occurred on December 23 in the parking lot of a Longhorn Steakhouse. According to police, a Honda CRV modified for mail delivery with passenger-side accelerator and brake controls was involved. The vehicle was being used to assist a man in a wheelchair, who was recovering from a stroke and lacked sensation in his left side.

While Pendergrass was helping the man into the vehicle, he inadvertently pressed the passenger-side gas pedal. This caused the car to reverse uncontrollably, spinning and striking another parked vehicle. During the chaos, Pendergrass was pinned between the Honda CRV and a second car.

The vehicle continued in reverse, colliding with two additional cars before finally coming to a stop. Both the man and the vehicle’s driver escaped injury.

Authorities described the incident as a “freak accident” and are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
