William Clark Littlefield Obituary, Death – On New Year’s Day, Shasta County deputies fatally shot a man following an alleged confrontation in a rural area north of Redding, California, roughly 180 miles from Sacramento. The incident occurred around 6 p.m., after deputies responded to reports of a man behaving erratically and under the influence of narcotics.
The call to authorities indicated that the man, identified as 52-year-old William Clark Littlefield, was with his elderly parents and had made threats to blow up a vehicle. He was also reportedly attempting to harm himself, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies spoke with Littlefield’s parents outside the residence. Shortly afterward, Littlefield emerged from the home, leading to what the sheriff’s office described as a “violent confrontation.” During the encounter, two deputies discharged their weapons.
Despite receiving medical assistance on-site, Littlefield succumbed to his injuries shortly after medical personnel arrived. Neither deputy was injured during the incident.
As per protocol, the deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave. The Officer Involved Critical Incident Response Team is now conducting an investigation into the shooting.
