Carter Halverson Obituary, Death – An 18-year-old man, identified as Carter Halverson from Paullina, Iowa, died early Saturday morning following a single-vehicle crash in O’Brien County. The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reported that the tragic incident occurred on December 21, at approximately 12:11 a.m. when the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call from OnStar, which indicated a possible collision.
According to OnStar’s report, the system detected airbag deployment and identified a single individual in the driver’s seat. It also suggested that the vehicle might have rolled over. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the location, which was on 500th Street, southwest of Paullina.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu at the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that the car was traveling eastbound on 500th Street when it veered off the roadway to the left, entering the north ditch. Authorities believe the vehicle struck a driveway, causing it to roll at least once.
Sadly, Halverson was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is still under investigation, and authorities have not released any additional details at this time.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office has been assisted by several local agencies, including the Paullina Police Department, Paullina Fire Department, Paullina Ambulance, and the O’Brien County Medical Examiner, as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
