According to a news release from the police, a Ram ProMaster cargo van was heading west on Cool Spring Road and approached a stop sign at the intersection with Harbeson Road. At the same time, a Nissan Sentra was traveling south on Cool Spring Road, also nearing the same stop sign at Harbeson Road.
Police reported that, for reasons still under investigation, the ProMaster failed to stop and proceeded through the intersection, colliding with the driver’s side of the Nissan. The impact of the crash generated debris that struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling on Harbeson Road.
The driver of the Nissan, an 86-year-old man from Millsboro, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, his passenger, Hageman, succumbed to her injuries after being taken to the hospital. The Delaware State Police expressed their condolences to her family and loved ones in the wake of this tragic loss.
The 29-year-old driver of the ProMaster, a resident of Salisbury, Maryland, suffered only minor injuries in the collision. He declined medical transport from the scene, according to the police. Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was unharmed in the incident.
