Delynn Brouillet Obituary, Death: Anchorage Woman Killed in Crash on Icy Mat-Su Road
Delynn Brouillet Obituary, Death – An Anchorage woman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on crash early Thursday on a busy road near Wasilla, according to Alaska State Troopers. The accident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Knik-Goose Bay Road, near Gleason Lane, when a man driving a Chevrolet pickup lost control on an icy stretch of the road. The pickup collided head-on with a Toyota Sequoia.
The woman who died in the crash was identified as 64-year-old Delynn Brouillet, a passenger in the pickup. Troopers reported that neither Brouillet nor the driver of the pickup were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. Brouillet was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers, the man in the pickup and the driver of the Toyota Sequoia, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. No one else was in either of the vehicles involved in the crash.
The weather played a significant role in the collision, as freezing rain and rain on top of frozen surfaces created hazardous driving conditions on Thursday, particularly on side roads and parking lots. As a result of the icy roads, schools in Anchorage and the Susitna Valley were closed for the day. While the weather was a major contributing factor to the crash, troopers stated that the investigation was still ongoing.
