Alexandra Diehl Obituary, Death – A pedestrian was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident on Wednesday night in Del Norte County, near Northcrest Drive. The victim, whose identity has not been released pending notification of relatives, was struck while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk close to East Madison Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Crescent City.

The incident began when a 2019 Nissan Rogue, driven by 36-year-old Alexandra Diehl, hit the pedestrian and then fled the scene. In the aftermath, a Toyota 4-Runner, traveling northbound, struck the pedestrian’s metal shopping cart. A third vehicle, a white Kia, also tried to avoid the pedestrian lying in the roadway but was unable to do so, although the Kia’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The pedestrian was immediately taken to Sutter Coast Hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, the individual succumbed to their injuries shortly after 9 p.m. that same evening.

Law enforcement soon tracked down the Nissan Rogue at around 8:35 p.m. and identified Diehl as the driver responsible for the hit-and-run. She was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

The CHP is continuing its investigation and urges anyone with further information to contact their Crescent City office at (707) 218-2000.
