Manuel de Jesus Sanchez Velasco Obituary, Death – A fatal accident occurred on Sunday night, December 1, in Midland County, leaving one person dead and another injured. The crash took place around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 349 and Farm Market Road 1213, just south of Interstate 20.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a Freightliner semi-truck towing a trailer was traveling north on State Highway 349, approaching the intersection with Farm Market Road 1213. At the same time, a Chevrolet Sonic was heading west on Farm Market Road 1213, nearing the same intersection.
The investigation revealed that the driver of the Chevrolet Sonic failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign, leading to a collision with the Freightliner semi-truck. The impact of the crash resulted in the Chevrolet’s driver, 45-year-old Manuel de Jesus Sanchez Velasco from Fort Bend, being pronounced dead at the scene by Investigator Troy Taylor.
The driver of the Freightliner, 40-year-old Jorge Luis Marquez of Horizon City, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment. DPS confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Sergeant Steven Blanco from DPS indicated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no additional details are available at this time.
