Hinkley Leifi Obituary, Death: 21-year-old man identified in fatal Kent parking lot shooting.
Hinkley Leifi Obituary, Death – A 21-year-old man from Kent, Washington, who was fatally shot on November 22, has been identified as Hinkley Leifi. According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Leifi died from multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred in the 1500 block of West Meeker Street in Kent, where police responded to a distress call from several 911 callers reporting gunfire and a man lying in a parking lot.
Upon arrival, Kent police officers found Leifi with several apparent gunshot wounds. They immediately began administering lifesaving medical aid. Firefighters from Puget Sound Fire arrived shortly after and continued the efforts to save him. Leifi was then rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but he succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
Witnesses reported hearing between five and 12 gunshots before seeing the victim on the ground. The suspect is believed to have fled the scene in a vehicle shortly after the shooting. It appears that Leifi and the shooter may have interacted before the gunfire, and investigators believe they were known to each other. However, as of December 3, police had not made any arrests, nor had they released information about a potential suspect.
Kent police are actively seeking any information about the incident and are encouraging the public to contact their Tip Line at 253-856-5808 or email KPDTipLine@kentwa.gov.
This incident was the second fatal shooting to occur in Kent within two days. On November 21, Khamal J. Blissitt, a 21-year-old from SeaTac, was shot and killed while driving on Veterans Drive in Kent near Military Road South. According to Kent police, Blissitt had stopped at a traffic light when an individual ran up to his vehicle and fired several shots into the passenger side window before fleeing the scene. Witnesses confirmed that this was not a random act. Blissitt died from his injuries, and like the case involving Leifi, no arrests or suspect information had been released as of December 3.
The two shootings have raised concerns about gun violence in the area, and Kent police continue to investigate both cases. Investigators believe the shootings were targeted incidents and are working diligently to gather evidence and identify the individuals responsible. The community has been urged to provide any leads that may help bring justice for the victims and their families.
